UI Design For Niger International Diori Harmani Airport VR Application

INTRODUCTION

Visualizing the architectural process in Virtual Reality (VR) is crucial for architects, designers, and builders to communicate their design ideas to clients and stakeholders, improve communication, save time and money, and promote their projects to a wider audience. VR visualization enables clients to see and understand the project in a more immersive way, providing a realistic experience of what the design would look like in real life, leading to more informed decision-making. Moreover, it can prevent costly and time-consuming changes during the construction process and attract more attention and interest from potential investors, buyers, or tenants, making it an increasingly popular and effective tool in the design and construction industry.

DESCRIPTION

In GarageAtlas, we developed an interactive platform for the Diori Hamani International Airport in Niamey, Niger, allowing the client to view and present the design and construction progress in virtual reality, despite it still being in the process of being built. This provided a visualization of the large-scale project in real-time.

Main Design Challenges:
1 - Designing UI for VR is challenging due to the need for a completely different approach to design compared to traditional 2D interfaces.
2- VR interfaces must be optimized for performance while balancing the user experience with technical limitations.
3 - The lack of established standards for VR interface design requires an iterative design process that involves testing and refining the interface to ensure it is intuitive and easy to use.
